DRAKE DISSED BY TRACK STAR NOAH LYLES
DRAKE DISSED BY TRACK STAR NOAH LYLES
Drake swiftly joined several NBA players in criticizing Noah Lyles for his statement about domestic championships not being equivalent to world titles. Now, with Team USA's exit from the FIBA World Cup, Lyles feels vindicated.
Lyles, a six-time world champion, sat down with TMZ to discuss his recent international victories and reflected on his earlier comments. He maintains that his point was misunderstood, emphasizing the desire for recognition of world champions in track and field, given their consistent medal wins.
Regarding Drake's involvement, Lyles appeared unfazed, suggesting that Drake should "just go home." The irony lies in the fact that Canada, Drake's home country, was the team responsible for eliminating the USA from the tournament, illustrating Lyles' point about the international scope of sports.
Last month, Drake, who is not a professional athlete, joined other NBA stars in criticizing Lyles for questioning the "world champion" title awarded to NBA Finals winners. Lyles argued that it's misleading since no other countries outside the United States and Canada are represented in the league.
Drake mocked Lyles' comments on an Akademiks repost, suggesting that Lyles rehearsed the speech, but it backfired as the entire league no longer respects him. Other NBA figures expressed their disagreement with Lyles' remarks, with Kevin Durant, Aaron Gordon, Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, Bam Adebayo, and Austin Rivers sharing their views.
