Drake's wager of $920,000 was based on his belief that Israel Adesayna would knock out Sean Strickland, but since that didn't happen, he lost the bet. Before the fight, Drake had shared on Instagram a picture of his betting ticket, which indicated a $500,000 bet on Adesanya to win against Strickland. Drake is known for making substantial bets on sporting events. Just last month, he placed a sizable bet on the fight between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former UFC contender Nate Diaz. He wagered $250,000 in favor of Diaz, explaining that he couldn't bet against a Diaz brother due to his upbringing. However, Paul won the fight via unanimous decision over Diaz. Earlier this year, Drake supported Jake Paul in his fight against Tommy Fury but suffered a $400,000 loss when Paul didn't emerge victorious. Paul jokingly attributed the loss to Drake during a press conference, referencing the "Drake curse," though he mentioned that Drake had won significant amounts of money betting on him in the past, evening out the losses.
