Lil Wayne, Common, and several other artists came together with Vice President Kamala Harris over the weekend for a unique concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop.
On Saturday, notable artists such as Lil Wayne, Common, Too Short, Jeezy, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, MC Lyte, Wale, and more gathered on the front lawn of Vice President Kamala Harris's residence in Washington, D.C. The event was organized in collaboration with the Recording Academy's Black Music Coalition and Live Nation Urban to honor the profound impact of Hip Hop over the past five decades, spanning music, fashion, film, and beyond.
Vice President Harris, addressing a diverse audience that included artists, politicians, and journalists, shared her personal connection to Hip Hop as a daughter of Oakland, California, emphasizing its presence in her life from its inception.
Common, who celebrated Hip Hop throughout the day, captured the festivities on Instagram with a video compilation of his time in Washington, D.C.
The event featured an impressive lineup of special guests, including Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Trina, Fat Joe, T.I., Slick Rick, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah, EPMD, A$AP Ferg, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Ice Cube, and Run-DMC, who announced that it would be their final performance together.
