MF DOOM X SUPREME
MF DOOM X SUPREME
The estate of MF DOOM has collaborated with Supreme to launch a new capsule collection, which is the latest addition to the fall 2023 collaboration series. This announcement was made earlier in the week, and the MF DOOM x Supreme collection became available on Thursday, September 7, for fans in the United States. The collection includes a variety of t-shirts, hoodies, and knit hats in different color options.
Supreme acknowledged MF DOOM's significant contributions to rap and his enduring influence on subsequent generations of artists. They emphasized that this collaboration with the MF DOOM estate for Fall 2023 comprises a Hooded Sweatshirt, T-Shirt, and Beanie. The graphic design featured on the t-shirts and hoodies prominently displays MF DOOM's iconic mask and machete sword, along with a handwritten letter from the Operation: Doomsday rapper on the back.
The hoodies were priced at $168, t-shirts at $48, and hats with the classic MF DOOM motif in black, green, and grey were available for $40. Unfortunately, the entire collection sold out rapidly on Thursday morning, leaving fans with the option of looking to Supreme in Japan, where the collection will be released on Saturday, September 9, or exploring the resale market.
MF DOOM, whose real name was Daniel Dumile Thompson, passed away in October 2020 at the age of 49. Initially, the cause of his death was kept private, but it was later revealed that it resulted from side effects caused by taking ACE inhibitors. After ingesting just two doses of the prescribed blood pressure medication, MF DOOM experienced a severe reaction known as Angioedema, which led to swelling in his throat, tongue, and lips.
His widow, Jasmin Thompson, criticized the hospital for their negligence in contributing to his deteriorating condition. Recently, Dr. Hamish McLure, the chief medical officer at St. James Hospital, issued an apology to Thompson, expressing condolences to MF DOOM's family, friends, and fans. Dr. McLure acknowledged that the care provided to MF DOOM did not meet their expected standards and mentioned ongoing actions and improvements to prevent similar incidents in the future. Additionally, he noted support for the coroner's recommendation for clearer national guidance and awareness in this area.
