POLO G’S ATTORNEY ISSUES A STATEMENT FOLLOWING POLICE RAID
Polo G's attorney has issued a statement to clarify the events following the police raid on the rapper's home in Southern California. According to Bradford Cohen, who spoke with XXL on August 23, the situation aimed to "verify" that his client was not a convicted felon.
Cohen explained, "The situation revolved around an individual staying at Polo's residence rather than Polo himself. The police detained Polo to 'verify' his non-convicted felon status, as they claim to have discovered a firearm at the residence. It is widely acknowledged that Polo does not have a criminal record and has never been convicted of a felony."
He further elaborated, "I personally had all the charges against him in Miami dismissed when we believed he was wrongfully arrested and charged. Denying us access to our client is also an unlawful and unethical practice, and someone will be held accountable for these unjust actions."
Earlier, on August 23, TMZ obtained video footage of Polo G's Los Angeles home with police vehicles present. Law enforcement officers entered the residence and detained several individuals, including Polo G, in relation to a robbery as indicated by law enforcement sources. A representative for the artist expressed optimism that the LAPD would handle the situation with sensitivity and openness.
In a previous incident back in June 2021, Polo G faced arrest in Miami after his album release celebration for "Hall of Fame." He was accused of multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer. However, bodycam footage from the prior year revealed a different narrative.
Initially, it was alleged that Polo G physically confronted an officer during a traffic stop, resulting in the officer sustaining facial injuries. The bodycam footage, however, showcased him employing verbal communication rather than physical actions.
In the online-shared video clips, Polo G could be heard audibly frustrated in the back seat of a police cruiser, attempting to engage with the officers. He challenged one officer's decision to join law enforcement, referring to him as "broke." Polo's mother and manager, Stacia Mac, claimed her son was racially profiled by the police.
Fortunately, the case was dismissed in April after Polo G successfully completed court-mandated anger management classes.
