Multiple leaks causes LIL UZI VERT’S ‘BARTER 16’ THROWN INTO LIMBO
Lil Uzi Vert has been generating excitement for his upcoming album "Barter 16," which draws inspiration from Young Thug. However, the album now faces a significant hurdle due to a substantial leak. On August 19th, tracks from Uzi's upcoming project were released online without his authorization, varying in quality from low to high. Notably, one of the leaked songs features Young Thug, whose "Barter 6" mixtape served as the creative basis for Uzi's project.
These unofficially released tracks have been repeatedly removed and reuploaded across various platforms, making it difficult to pinpoint a specific website or streaming service hosting the leaked content. Despite not having announced an official release date for the album, the 28-year-old rapper has been generating anticipation for it in recent weeks. However, with the leaks now circulating, the album's future remains uncertain.
A couple of days before the leak, Lil Uzi Vert paid further tribute to Young Thug. On August 16th, he recreated the cover of Young Thug's "Barter 6" mixtape, adding to the ongoing buildup of excitement for his own version of the 2015 classic. He captioned an Instagram post with "Happy birthday @thuggerthugger1. Barter 16 [B emoji] soon [blood drop emoji] Love You [green heart emoji]."
On the same day he turned 32, Young Thug finds himself incarcerated due to the ongoing YSL RICO case, which appears likely to extend into the following year.
During recent weeks, Lil Uzi Vert has been unequivocal about Young Thug's profound impact on his music, evident in his ongoing emulation of the Atlanta rapper's style as he gears up for "Barter 16." In late July, Uzi utilized social media to reveal an image of himself within a studio environment, encircled by a reddish ambiance reminiscent of a younger version of Young Thug.
In the photograph, Uzi displays a hand gesture associated with a certain group while donning a red bandana tied around his dreadlocks, and he even sports a Rich Gang chain—a gesture honoring Thug's former collective with Rich Homie Quan and Birdman.
The image is accompanied by the caption "B16," providing a link to Lil Uzi Vert's upcoming project and intensifying the intrigue surrounding it.
