One of the suspects involved in the murder of rapper Pop Smoke has received a sentence after admitting guilt. A 20-year-old man pleaded guilty in juvenile court for his involvement in the fatal incident that occurred in February 2020, where he entered a Hollywood Hills mansion with the intention to rob the Brooklyn rapper. The suspect, who has not been identified, admitted to charges of voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery. He is the first of the four defendants charged in Pop Smoke's death to plead guilty. The defendant has been sentenced to four years and two months in the Secure Youth Treatment Facility in Los Angeles, but could remain in juvenile custody until he turns 25. The judge did not apply the two years and eight months the defendant has already spent in juvenile hall to his sentence. The other suspects include Corey Walker, who was 19 years old at the time, as well as a 15-year-old and 17-year-old. Pop Smoke, whose real name was Bashar Barakah Jackson, died on February 19, 2020, at the age of 20, after being shot multiple times in a robbery at the property he was renting in Los Angeles.
