LIL YACHTY'IRRITATED' BY VIRAL HIT
Lil Yachty’s hit song "Poland" took the internet by storm and was one of the biggest viral moments of 2022. However, the rapper has revealed that he didn't actually want to release the song.
In a recent interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Lil Yachty spoke about the success of "Poland" and how it vexed him. He admitted that he had made the F1lthy-produced track while working on his Let’s Start Here album, but he never intended to release it. He said he was irritated when the song was eventually dropped, but he's now grateful that it did so well.
The song's warbling hook, which references the pharmaceutical company Wockhardt that produces promethazine-codeine syrup, inspired countless memes on social media. Lil Yachty eventually released the AutoTune-laced song in October to capitalize on the viral moment, and "Poland" invaded the Billboard Hot 100, cracking the Top 40. The Lyrical Lemonade-helmed video has also garnered over 24 million views.

The success of "Poland" even reached the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, who allegedly invited Lil Yachty to visit the country. Quality Control CEO Pee shared a text exchange with Lil Yachty, revealing that he had spoken to the Prime Minister about making arrangements for the rapper's visit.
Many of Lil Yachty's rap peers have co-signed "Poland" since its release, including Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Offset, and Steve Lacy. Drake even shared a screenshot of himself playing the song on Spotify to his Instagram Stories, while Wiz Khalifa praised the track as "hard." Offset and Steve Lacy both shared separate clips of themselves belting out the song's earworm hook on social media.
Despite not intending to release "Poland," Lil Yachty is grateful for the success it has brought him and is looking forward to what's next in his career.
