Quality Control Music has reportedly been acquired by Scooter Braun’s HYBE America in a deal worth $320 million.
Quality Control Music, an Atlanta-based record label, has been acquired by Scooter Braun's HYBE America in a deal valued at $320 million. The acquisition comprises the music label along with its sports, film, and television operations. It marks Braun's first big move since becoming the sole CEO of HYBE America earlier this year. The music label is home to some of the biggest names in hip hop, including Lil Baby, Migos, Lil Yachty, and City Girls.
Quality Control's co-founder, Pierre “P” Thomas, expressed excitement about the partnership and taking the company to a global level. He highlighted the importance of having partners who understand building from the ground up and aiming high. Thomas and Braun have a long-standing relationship, which was described by Thomas as one based on trust and a shared view of the world.
Braun expressed pride and honor in partnering with Thomas and Quality Control's other co-founder, Kevin “Coach K” Lee. He described the partnership as a full circle moment, recalling their discussions about their dreams and ambitions many years ago.
HYBE America, headquartered in South Korea, already has a strong portfolio of artists in the US, including Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Quavo, and The Kid LAROI, under its management arm, SB Projects.
In an Instagram post, Thomas emphasized the significance of the deal and encouraged people to see it as a positive step towards building something that benefits everyone. He discouraged thinking of the deal as a sell-out and encouraged seeing it as a sell-in.
